My work as a look development and lighting technical director has taken me to major studios in both the United States and Japan. I have worked on various projects, ranging from live action visual effects to feature animation and game cinematics.
A sense of aesthetics is crucial to effective lighting design. However, that is only one of many skills that makes a good look development / lighting technical director. It is a job that requires technical problem solving skills and a thorough knowledge of high end CG softwares.

I have used Maya, Houdini, Nuke and Katana to work on various feature animations and their visual effects projects. In addition to proficiency in the above listed programs, I am knowledgeable about industry standard renderers such as Arnold, V-Ray, mental ray, mantra, and RenderMan.
In order to be an effective lighting TD, technical problem solving abilities are a must. With scripting / programming knowledge, I have been able to understand and tackle problems at their source, using major programming languages such as Python, PySide / PyQt, C / C++, MEL, Unix shell scripting.
